Termite Country
Why timber cladding is a poor bet around Blacktown
The soils through Blacktown, Doonside and Marayong are termite country, and everyone who has owned a house here long enough has a story about it. Fence posts, pergola uprights, deck bearers, anything with exposed timber and ground proximity eventually gets found.
Timber cladding is an unusually attractive target because it sits flat against a wall with a cavity behind it, which is exactly the concealed run termites want. By the time it's visible from outside, the damage is rarely limited to the boards.
Capped WPC gives them nothing. The polymer content is high and the cap is sealed around the entire board, so there's no accessible cellulose to feed on. It won't rot from the back either, which is the other way timber cladding fails on a wall that never dries out properly.

Renovation Value
Modernising brick veneer without rendering it
Blacktown's housing stock is largely 1970s and 80s brick veneer, and a lot of it is being updated rather than knocked down. The default move is to render the whole facade, which is expensive, locks you into a repaint cycle, and looks like every other rendered box on the street.
Cladding a section instead is cheaper and reads better: the entry, the garage wall, or a single vertical band that breaks the brick up. Priced by the board, a feature wall is often a few hundred dollars of material rather than the several thousand a full render costs.
The two standard colours are chosen for exactly this. Charcoal Black gives a hard contrast against warm 1970s brown brick; Smoke Grey sits softer against the paler blond and cream brick that's just as common through Seven Hills and Kings Langley.
Blacktown and the western suburbs
Board counts go out across Blacktown and the surrounding suburbs:
- Seven Hills, brick-veneer facade bands
- Kings Langley, entry and garage wall cladding
- Quakers Hill, newer estate feature walls
- Marayong, termite-prone rear elevations
- Doonside, alfresco and pergola walls
- Lalor Park & Prospect, boundary and retaining wall faces

Blacktown Cladding FAQ
Questions we get from Blacktown.
Is WPC cladding really termite-proof?
Termites need cellulose they can reach. WPC has high polymer content and a cap sealed around the entire board, so there's no accessible wood fibre to feed on, which matters in the termite-prone soils through Blacktown, Doonside and Marayong, where timber cladding on a battened cavity is a textbook concealed run.
Is cladding cheaper than rendering my brick facade?
For a feature section, usually by a wide margin. Boards are $30 (2.3m) or $37 (2.7m) each inc GST, so an entry or garage wall is typically a few hundred dollars of material against several thousand for a full render, and there's no repaint cycle afterwards.
Which colour works against 1970s brown brick?
Charcoal Black gives the hard contrast that reads as deliberate against warm brown brick. Smoke Grey is the better choice against the paler blond and cream brick common through Seven Hills and Kings Langley.
How much cladding do I need for one wall?
Tell us the wall height and width with your enquiry and we'll work the board count out and itemise it. If you already have a count, send that instead, pricing is per board either way.
Do you install cladding in Blacktown?
No. Fencly is supply only. We supply the boards. We're happy to recommend trusted local installers working across Blacktown and the western suburbs; just ask for a referral when you enquire.
